An 11-month-old girl who was found dead at Kingsway Christian College in Perth s north last night was found unresponsive in a car by her mother, police say.
Police Commissioner Chris Dawson said the child s 39-year-old mother took the baby into the school in Darch after finding her.
He said despite immediate healthcare, the baby was unable to be resuscitated. The police are investigating the death of that child, Commissioner Dawson said, adding that the investigation was not yet complete.
Commissioner Dawson said the mother was at the school either collecting or dropping off another child.
He did not want to speculate about how long the child was in the car for, but said as part of the investigation, police were looking into whether the death could be related to an accident.

“I still think what could have happened,” Edwards said. “I had nightmares that night.”
“At that moment, I just kind of blanked out,” he said.
Edwards called for help and posted a video on social media hoping someone knew something about the little girl.
“I can’t stop crying. I don’t even know what to think right now. I’m praying to God it’s some kind of mistake,” Edwards said in the video.
Authorities said they were able to get the child to safety and started trying to locate the toddler’s family.
Germany records increase in murder and child abuse cases
Germany has seen a drop in reported crime in the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic amid restrictions that increasingly kept people at home. However, some crimes including murder and child abuse showed an increase.
The overall clearance rate for crimes solved rose slightly to 58.4% in 2020
However, while violent crimes as a whole were down, there was a marked rise in domestic abuse, child abuse, and homicide.
What the statistics reveal
Some 5.3 million crimes were reported in Germany in 2020, a decrease of 2.3% compared with the previous year.
While violent crimes overall were down 2.4%, the number of homicides in Germany rose by 3.7% to 2,401 in 2020.
